English Syllabus
Curriculum
Course Work: Our focus in English class will be on the critical aspects of poetry, drama, fiction, and nonfiction literature. The goal will be to help students develop mature habits of critical thinking as independent readers and writers. This class is both demanding and intellectually stimulating. Classroom discussion and active participation are vital and serve as a means of assessing students’ ideas and growth.
English Binder: Students are required to keep a notebook. Lessons, projects, notes, and homework assignments will be kept in this notebook throughout the course.
Assessment of Student Progress:
Class assignments, homework, and participation will average together for each student’s grade in the following manner:
Grading Scale:
A 93-100% C 73%-63%
A- 90%-92% C- 70%-72%
B+ 87%-89% D+ 67%-69%
B 83%-86% D 63%-66%
B- 80%-82% D- 60%-62%
C+ 77%-79% F 0%-59%
